Port Isaac is a famous fishing village the history of which dates back to the 14th century. It is well known for its winding narrow streets and historic architecture. In previous times it was a busy port dealing in coal, timber, pottery and Delabole Slate. It is within an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is a Heritage Coast Area, It has recently become famous as Portwenn, the setting for the TV series Doc Martin.
