The caption for this image, written about 1910, reads: “Mrs Campbell of Balliemore by Raeburn (1756-1823) in the National Gallery in Scotland. This is one of the finest of the many fine portraits by Raeburn in the Edinburgh Gallery.” Sir Henry Raeburn (1756 – 1823) was a Scottish portrait painter. He served as Portrait Painter to King George IV in Scotland.
