The machine was alsotried cutting thread on in. pipe on the fastest speed, that of18 ft. per minute, but it was found that this resulted in aragged thread. The pulleys were finally proportioned so that onthe lowest cutting speed 14 ft. per minute was secured withlyi in. pipe.
