Letter by Frederick the Great, King of Prussia, to Francesco Algarotti, 1740 (1865). Algarotti (1712-1764) was an Italian philosopher and art critic. He met Frederick on his way back from a journey to Russia. Frederick made him a Prussian count and the two men are said to have been lovers. The original letter is in the British Museum (Add. MS. 12,096 fol 1).
