Piers, buttresses, andpilasters may be traced ; but the work of destruction hasbeen too complete to allow us to determine whether theybelong to the interior or exterior of a palace. I sought invain for some clue to tlie general plan of the edifice. Thebricks are of a pale yellow colour, and are not exceeded inquality by any found in the ruins of Bab
