The monastery of St. John the Baptist is a unique monument of Byzantine and Old Bulgarian architecture. It is located in one of the neighborhoods of today's town of Kardzhali. In 1998 it opened a unique tomb preserved relics of the senior bishop of the 13-14 century, making it a value of world importance.
