An English memento-mori lidded box with a verge watch, 19th century Carved ivory body displaying openwork backed with snakeskin and floral decoration on the reverse side. Six spherical feet. The crown-shaped cover fitted with a silver lid with floral engraving and a fine miniature behind glass in the centre. Hinged verge movement, the plate signed, "Willm. Gill London. Enamelled dial (minimal chipping on the edge). Not tested for function.
