THE SECOND FIRE ZOUAVES. 0 Of all the regiments which the Empire State sent to the front during theCivil War, none made a more honorable record than the Second Fire was organized May 3, 1861, and consisted almost entirely of firemen andrunners. At first Governor Morgan declined the services of the regiment,since it was supposed that enough troops to suppress the rebellion had alreadybeen raised.
