(Extract from a letter from Philadelphia, dated 9th month II, 1798.)Dr. Kinlaid has been in practice here for about two weeks andhas discharged fifty well patients of the fever and has yet remain-ing under his care about one hundred, and of all these I think hesays he bled but three. He has them frequently bathed with vine-gar, their hands, feet and back : and some have been stripped andwrapped in a blanket steeped in warm vinegar. This is a mode oftreatment I do most cordially agree with. It helps to keep up theperspiration, which lessens the fever, and I am very much of themind, if taken earlv, and the patient well nursed, there will be littledanger of a recovery. 20 THE SPIRIT OF 76.
