During the day, flames cannot always be seen, but smoke from a fire is still highly visible. The Dixie Fire is a wildfire that burned Greenville, California to the ground and has burned 844,082 acres by the end of August, 2021 in California’s Butte, Plumas and Tehama Counties. The fire, which began July 13, 2021, is the largest single recorded fire complex in California history. Drought conditions in California have made the 2021 fire season extreme.
