Main keep of the castle in Brandys nad Labem town, Czech Republic


Originally a medieval castle dating back to the early 14th century, expanded during the Gothic era, later adapted in the Renaissance style for Ferdinand I. It subsequently underwent a Baroque reconstruction and, later yet, was “re-gothicized” for the Grand Dukes of Tuscany. The castle is currently undergoing gradual renovation. The courtyard facade features unique graffiti with hunting themes. The interiors commemorate a stay by Emperor Karl von Habsburg a military subjects (19th c.) Part of the holdings of the District Museum Prague – East is exhibited here.
