The two latterstructures are entirely new and are fitted only for the inspec-tion of trains, while the car shops at Morris Park are fittedwith the necessary machine tools for executing repair work. At Morris Park a new shop was built paralleling the oldcar shop, and with a transfer table situated between FIG. 25.—ELECTRIC SNOW-PLOW It is 216 ft. long by no ft. wide, and is connected with themill that runs across the end of the old shop by a two-storystructure containing space for pattern, upholstery and brassfinishing shops. The walls of the shop are built of brick, andthe roof is made in the saw-tooth form commonly used forthis purpose. There are thirteen pit tracks, 16 ft. apart be-tween centers. The shop is wide enough to accommodatetwo 51-foot cars, with a space between the ends of the cars,and 3 ft. between the ends of the cars and walls. The pitsare about 26 ins. deep below the top of the rail. A transfertable is 75 ft. wide, and long enough to accommodate thelargest type of Pullman coach. The transfer table is oper-ated electrically, and is provided with an electric capstan toassist in moving cars and trucks out of the shops. Over the two tracks at the south end of the new shop thereare light traveling cranes for handling the motors and axlesand facilitating general track rep
