Snout much shorter than eye, which is 2^ to 3 times in length of head and equal to or a little greater than interorbital width ; maxillary extending to below anterior border or anterior fourth of eye ; head entirely covered with very small scales. 17-19 gill-rakers on lower part of anterior arch. Dorsal VIII 28-30 ; last spine -f to -f length of head; anterior soft rays moderately produced. Anal III 29-32 ; third spine f to § length of head. Ventral reduced to a small spine and 2 to 4 soft rays. Caudal feebly emarginate. Caudal peduncle.
