He was born in Beiks county in 1753 and at a ver\- earlyperiod in the histt)ry of Kentucky went to that state, being a contemporaryof Daniel Boone and other famous pioneers of Kentucky who first settled onihe dark and bloody gnnuid. His children were people of strong religiousconvictions, of i)ronounced anti-slavery i)rinciples and of Christian faith andl)ractice.
