The AN/TPQ-50 counterbattery radar plays a key part in a JPEO-CBRND experiment at Yuma Proving Ground, providing radar data in which the experiment will look for information on CBRN threats. The experiment’s aim is to determine whether radar systems like the AN/TPQ-50 and AN/TPQ-53 can detect ordnance filled with chemical or biological weapons or materiel, either in flight or upon detonation.
