These were varied by the usual advan-tages of a district school in winter until he attained hismajority, when he entered the army and became a memberof Company Gof the Filth Michigan Cavalry. During hisperiod of service, involving nearly three yeans, he waspresent at forty-nine engagements, and was wounded onfour different occasions. On his discharge from the armyand return to his home he was united in marriage to , daughter of Daniel Blood, of the township ofVictor. They have three children,—Isaac, Kdna, andFrank.
