Conduction of heat. This demonstration shows that heat is conducted in metals. It comprises a metal rod (across top), one end of which is in the flame of a bunsen burner. The other end has several paper clips stuck to it with wax. As the flame heats one end of the bar, the heat travels along it, melting the wax and causing the paper clips to fall, in order of their proximity to the flame. One has fallen already.
