He followed teaching from1844 to 1868. He taut^ht tliree terms in the countrv and hastaught in Pittstield, Griggsville, Perry, Barry, Mt. Sterling andLewistown. In 1809 he embarked in the commercial business withbis father-in-law, under the firm name of Kockill & Shastid, andthey have transacted a successful business. In 1804 Mr. Shastid wasunited in marriage with Esther Anna Kockill, and both are membersof the Christian Church. Benjamin Taylor Shoemaker, deceased, was born in NewJersey, Feb. 12, 1812, and was the son of Daniel Shoenudcer. Hewas ivared on a farm and
