He followed teaching from1844 to 1868. He taut^ht tliree terms in the countrv and hastaught in Pittstield, Griggsville, Perry, Barry, Mt. Sterling andLewistown. In 1809 he embarked in the commercial business withbis father-in-law, under the firm name of Kockill & Shastid, andthey have transacted a successful business. In 1804 Mr. Shastid wasunited in marriage with Esther Anna Kockill, and both are membersof the Christian Church.
