Caption: Kangding, Sichuan, China - Aug 2002. A Khampa artisan works to mould emblems for the new prayer room at Anjue Gompa in Kangding. First built in 1654, Anjue was completely destroyed during the cultural revolution, and rebuilt years later. More than 90% of Kham's temples were destroyed during the Cultural Revolution by the Mao Tse Tung Red Guards. Fifty years on, the financial assistance from developed countries is helping to restore and rebuild Kham's religious heritage; prompting a renaissance in the Buddhist faith.
