A silver-mounted German smallsword, circa 1760 Slender thrusting blade of flattened hexagonal section and decorative etching for half its length on both sides along with the maker's inscription, "DURABO". The silver hilt bears figures and masks in relief, openwork double shell-guard with floral designs. The silver wire grip winding and leather scabbard are later replacements.
