Interior view NW showing the stalled chamber of Knowe of Yarso chambered cairn, Rousay, Orkney, divided into three main compartments by tall side slabs; the terminal (NW) stall is subdivided midway by low slabs. View taken looking over portal stones where the passage enters the chamber from the SE. Pottery sherds, stone & bone tools, animal bones (especially deer) & the remains of at least 29 human skeletons were found in the tomb. Human skulls were arranged along the base of the walls in the subdivided NW compartment which may have been fitted with an upper stone shelf.
