Budapest, Hungary. June 20, 2024: In red: the former Nazi Ghetto on a panorama of Hungarian capital & Liberty statue, erected in remembrance of Soviet liberation during World War II. Hungarians commemorate the 80th anniversary of an unique network in Holocaust history in Europe: the Yellow Star houses, part of "Jewish laws". From June 21, 1944 until establishment of the ghetto, 220,000 targeted Jews were forced to live in designated buildings after being expelled from homes. As Yellow Stars houses, the ghetto served as preparatory stage for deportation. Credit: Kevin Izorce/Alamy Live News
The information contained in this photo is based on the official listing of Yellow Star Houses but is given purely for illustration purposes only. Particular attention was paid to the boundaries of the ghetto but the urban landscape has changed a lot since that time, which is difficult to see from an aerial view. It is possible that one or two buildings were outside the ghetto or the opposite but the proportions were respected.
