The centre of the tumour was occupied by a large ulcera-tion, which was surrounded by several fistulous tracts, from whichturbid sero-pus issued. The first impression was that the tumourrepresented an osteosarcoma, and it was feared that speedy ampu-tation would be indicated. It was decided to make use of theRontgen rays, which proved to be a valuable means of information,since the true condition was at once precisely defined.
