Adams, Seaman, first class, of 3628 Botanical Avenue, St. Louis, Mo., has been awarded a letter of commendation and authority to wear the commendation ribbon for his outstanding service in making possible the eventual salvage of a flaming and derelict tanker carrying a cargo of high octane aviation gasoline. The award was conferred by Rear Admiral Smith in behalf of Commander in Chief, Atlantic Fleet. Adams, whose wife lives at 218 Essex Street, Chester, Pa., serves aboard a Coast Guard Combat Cutt
