It is a per- fect machine for cutting ensilage and dry feed. Cutting ensilage with this machine requires one man to throw off the wagon, one man to help throw off and attend to the machine. One or two mi n constantly pushing to get the fodder started is not necessary. The only point is to get it to the 'machine- it goes through itself. It will cut 33 '3 per cent, more than the regular ma- chine and saves 75 per cent, of the feeder's time and labor. The feed table is supplied with a continuous travelling chain or belt apron which converts the machine into a self-feeder. The travelling apron is driven by chain and sprocket wheels and is under control of the feeder by means of the throw-out lever located just in the rear of the lever that controls the feed rolls. The apron travels on five pairs of sprocket wheels, which is a guaran- tee against wear. The throw-out levers are strong points of advantage, as it is well known to parties familiar in the use of such machines, that occasionally a pitchfoik, horseshoe, or some other foreign substance mysteriously strays into the ma- chine, and about the time it reaches the knives the feeder has only to catch the levers and throw the feed out.
