Carl Schurz Park. East End Avenue between 83rd and 90th Street. This park made in 1891, and managed by a neighborhood association, offers good views of the East River and is a peaceful place to walk in the shade of the trees. On the north side of the park is the home field of Gracie Mansion, built in 1799 as the official residence of the mayor. Since 1942 all mayors, except Bloombert have lived in this building of federal architecture, and also served in 1887 as the first home of the Museum of the City of New York. You can make 45-minute tours for the house every Wednesday (10am / 11:00 / 1pm / 2pm / $ 7 adults / $ 4US retiree / free / students need to arrange a visit by calling Tel 212-NEW-YORK or 311)
