Parkinson's disease brain stimulation operation. Lateral X-rays of the head of a 54-year-old woman with Parkinson's disease during (top) and after (bottom) an operation to implant deep brain stimulation (DBS) electrodes in her brain. This neurosurgical treatment involves the implantation of electrodes (white) in deep areas of the brain, linked through the scalp to wires leading to a pacemaker (not seen).
