Nazarenos parading during Semana Santa in Malaga, Spain, April 2011

Nazarenos in procession during Semana Santa (Holy Week), April 2011, in Malaga, Spain. Easter week is celebrated in Spain with processions of hooded "Nazarenos" accompanied by military bands and huge floats (called "Tronos" in Malaga) with representations of scenes from the last week of Christ's life, carried on the shoulders of men (and sometimes women) known as "los costaleros". The colours, forms and details of the costumes worn by the Nazarenos are distinctive for each brotherhood, although a common feature is the wearing of the high pointed hood (called a Capirote).
