Loch Doon Castle
Originally known as Balliol Castle, Loch Doon in Ayrshire, Scotland, was built after 1275 on a small island in the middle of the loch. In the 1930s the level of the loch was altered by a hydro-electric scheme. The outer shell of the castle was disassembled in 1935 and faithfully re-assembled higher up the nearby shore.
