The BBC is to trial a News Program planned to replace the long standing national "Six O'clock News" program and the regional news programme "Reporting Scotland" with a new programme called "Scottish Six". The trial programme is to be edited and presented in Scotland but has run into criticism from the National Union of Journalists because of lack of consultation and from the general public because the Corporation appears to have ceded to pressure from the SNP executive.
