As shown here, pancreatic cancer is associated with an extensive desmoplastic reaction in which the connective tissue around the tumor thickens and scars. Tests similar to the one described here can distinguish between and ampquotgood and ampquot and and ampquotbad and ampquot stromal reactions. The researchers hope this could enable the design of therapies that will reprogram the tumour-stroma interaction. Cancer cells are in red nuclei are in blue stroma / desmoplasia is in cyan and stroma-specific markers are yellow and green while marker overlays appear white.
