When grated fine and fried as fritters, the flavor greatly resembles that of the oyster, hence one of the common names of this vegetable is "Oyster ; iK^-One ounce will sow fifty feet of drill. New Mammoth. A variety introduced from the Sandwich Islands, and is a reall}- great im- provement on the French sort generally cultivated. It attains a very large size, being at least twice as large as the ordinary sort, and resembles a fair sized parsnip. In quality it is very superior, being very tender and delicious.
