Cope, who was unable to be present on accountof illness, then read the letter presenting the Lin-coln Tablet on the outside of the church, asfollows: I was not at Gettysburg when the NationalCemetery was dedicated. I had a small partyof topographers here August, September andOctober, 1863. So we just missed the dedication. The President attended this church on thatoccasion and many of the members and othersthought it proper that a Tablet should be put upto state this. I consulted with the pastor andsome of the congregation, and as a representativeof the session prepared a design for a Tablet withinscription, which, with some changes, was ap-proved. I had this cast in bronze, and put on thefront of the building. I take pleasure in presenting this Tablet to thechurch. E. B. COPE. Pa ere 9. PHOTO BY TIPTON. GETTYSBURG. P*. COL. E. B. COPE [Col.
