An Afghan National Army recruit studies literacy course materials during Regional Basic Warrior Training at the Regional Military Training Center Apr. 27, 2011, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan. Every recruit in the basic training receives 64 hours of literacy training, which amounts to a 3rd grade reading level. The RMTC trains nearly 1500 recruits every eight weeks.
