The Yellow at the Eastern corner indicates the commence-ment of the vast Region, unknown to the Ancients, theinhabitants of which clothed themselves in Silk. The Green indicates the countries, all low and bordering onrivers, in which the cloth manufactured was chiefly Linen. The Brown is designed to show the cultivation of Hemp inthe low country to the North of the Euxine Sea, and probablyin other places, North of the Red division, which were adaptedfor its growth. Lastly, the Blue, which is the colour of the Baharein Islesand of India, shows that the inhabitants of these countrieshave from time immemorial clothed themselves in APPENDICES, APPENDIX A.
