Capela dos Ossos (Chapel of Bones) is a famed monument located in Evora, a city in mid-eastern Portugal. It is a chapel in the Church of Sao Francisco that is entirely decorated by a mosaic of human skulls and bones. Records of the past indicate these to originate from Evora’s overcrowded graveyards in the 16th century.
