view of dirt track and koala up a gum tree, The Forts walk, Magnetic island, Townsville, Queensland, Australia

It is thought that there are between 650 and 950 koalas living in the wild on Magnetic Island (2012 estimate). They are quite difficult to spot, but one of the best places to look is up in the eucalyptus trees on the Forts Walk.
