Soldiers, Airmen and members of the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson community show some spirit prior to a breast cancer awareness 5K run at JBER, Alaska, Sept. 28, 2018. More than 300 people rallied together to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The National Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation estimates 220,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer each year and over 40,000 will perish. October is nationally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month with the goal of raising awareness of breast cancer signs and symptoms and emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis.
