Last year we had approximately $1,000 tied up in this extra stock, all of which we liquidated. But right there is the only possibility of our taking a loss on goods that we do not sell. For we buy practically all of our bulbs in Holland; we send our order to Holland July 5; that is, four days after we have closed our orders with our customers. Usually a mem- ber of the firm takes this order over and places it with the bulb wholesalers, his going being largely for moral effect. The bulbs reach us about September 15 or 20. By September 25 they have been unpacked and we are beginning to ship out our orders to customers. The bills go out on the same day as
