Classic Citi Bikes at a lower Manhattan docking station near Chinatown on Division Street, New York City, USA. Founded in 2013, privately owned Citi Bike is the largest bike sharing program in the United States. The program began with 6,000 specially designed bikes in New York City and currently, 2022, includes Parts of New Jersey and Miami, Florida. The bikes can be rented, unlocked, for a one-time fee that includes 30 minutes riding or users can pay a monthly fee for unlimited use. The cost of transportation and congested city streets has made the bicycle sharing system extremely popular. The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days per year. According to Citi Bike they had their highest ridership in August of 2022.
