The Sweet or Sugar varieties beins liable to rot in cold or wet ground, should not be planted before May, or until the ground has become warm, and for a succession continue planting every two weeks, until the middle of July, in rich, well-manured ground, in hills 3 feet apart each way, covering about half an inch, and thin out to 3 plants to a hill, or plant in rows 4 feet apart, and to stand 8 inches apart in the rows. The field varieties should be planted 4 feet apart each way, leaving 3 plants to a hill.
