The ovaries are two female genital glands located on either side of the uterus. They present themselves as small oval masses, a little over 1 inch (3–4 cm) in length, supported by ligaments. From puberty to menopause, the ovaries release ova and secrete sexual hormones, estrogen and progesterone, following a cycle called the ovarian cycle.
