Chestnut Teal_Waterfowl at Martin Mere Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust Centre, WWT, Burscough, Lancashire, England

A gregarious duck that can be found in large flocks in many areas south of the Tropic of Capricorn. It can be found on coastal swamplands, tidal mudflats and inland water courses where it feeds on a diet of plant matter and insects. The male and female can often be found together but if split up the female can easily be identified by the bright red eye that is present in both sexes.
