Computer-drawn weather chart. Met Office employee using a computer-operated line drawer to produce an upper air forecast weather chart. This is a Variplotter from EAI (Electronic Associates Incorporated). Reels of computer tape are on shelves in the background. Photographed in the Computer Laboratory, at the Met Office headquarters in Bracknell. The Met Office, the UK's national weather monitoring and forecasting service, began to use computers in the late 1950s and early 1960s. EAI was founded in 1945. The Met Office headquarters were located in Bracknell between 1962 and 2003.
