In the fall of the sams year, daring the sick-ness of Mr. McKee, Superintendent of schools, he was put in hisplace, and on Mr. McKees death was chosen his continued in this office six years, resigning in 1872. Leavinghis family in Bellefontaine, he next spent two years in Maryland,teaching and preaching. Returning to his family after less thantwo 3ears, he was called to his rest. Thus almost all of his adult lifewas devoted to the service of humanity in one or the other of twoself-denying callings. He united with thischurch September 5, 1868,and was elected Superintend-ent of the Sabbath-school. He subsequent!} remov-ed to Springfield,but his pres-ent residence is Cleveland,Ohio. Mr St. John is a me-chanical engineer, and is en-gaged in manufacturing. He married Rebecca Mrs. St. Johnunited with this church Jan-uary 2, 1857.
