Although the Laurentian rocks have been considered Azoic,yet Mr. McMullen discovered what were thought to be fossilremains in a limestone at Grand Calumet. When first dis-covered, the fossil was believed to be a coral resembling theStromatopora rugosa, but if has since been classed with theRhizopods, and called the Eozoon Canadense. The samefossils have been detected in dark-green serpentine withcrystalline
