This is a portrait of an adult female orangutan. The orangutan is looking toward the camera with an expression of curiosity on its face. It is cross-eyed (strabismic). The orangutan is placed over the right three-quarters of the frame with the remainder being out-of-focus trees and foliage, allowing plenty space for copy if required. The orangutans in the Tanjung Puting National Park in Borneo suffer because of palm oil harvesting and illegal logging destroying their natural environment. So many come to feeding stations where their diet is supplemented; they have become used to humans being around because of this. Vertical format with the subject almost filling the frame.
