Insects; Pests. 284 J A' E C 0X0 Ma EN TO MO /.OG) \ the primaries only a little banded with narrow lines, the wings reddish on the interior margin, with a narrow band of the same color outwardly. On the ^''^- 312. middle of the hind wing is a large, round, blue spot, with a broad black border and a central white dash. In the female the primaries are purple-brown, the transverse lines gray and much more prominent, and there is a somewhat dusky, p^ale-mar- gined, nearly kidney-shaped discal spot. The hind wings are essentially like those of the male, and altogether this sex is larger than its com- jKuiion. The only other of the silk- s])inners to which attention need be called here are the s{)ecies of Clisiocavipa, which are interesting from the fact that most of them live in colonies and spin a tent of silk on the ti'ees Fig. Larva of io tnotli.
