Spectrophotometer. This machine uses ultraviolet (UV), visible and infrared (IR) light to analyse samples. The sample is dissolved in solution, added to a cuvette, and then placed in the beamline area (centre). The lid is closed and light of varying wavelength passed through the sample. The absorption or reflectance spectra are then displayed on the screen, with peaks indicating properties of the sample and the chemicals present. This T92+ from PG Instruments is a high-performance double-beam model. This spectrophotometer's wavelength range is from 190 to 900 nanometres.
