This family, long united by most authors with the Huricidae, differs from that group in numerous details of shell, radula, and operculum. Certain broad features, perhaps applicable at the superfamily level, are common to both these families. The shell in the Thaididae is solid and heavy, with a moderately low spire, a large aperture and heavy, knobby sculpture (Figure ?)•
